Halloween 2012

This year we celebrated Halloween Day at school. Halloween is a traditional celebration in English-speaking countries. 31st October is the day children look forward to dress up Halloween costumes and go from door-to door in their neighbourhood following the old tradition of trick-or treating, collecting sweets and gifts. Our activities were the following: In Infant Education we listened to a spooky (but not too scary) story “The happy witch”, we learnt songs and we created frightening masks and owl bracelets. In Primary Education we learnt vocabulary and information about customs and traditions on Halloween. We decorated the class with our Jack-O-Lanterns, we made our own masks (ghosts, witches, monsters, black cats…) and sang the song “Go away”. But the Halloween party would seem incomplete without playing some of the traditional Halloween games. We enjoyed playing “bobbing for apples”, “the skeleton hunt” and “wrap the mummy”. The teacher hopes you all enjoyed the Halloween party as much as she did.

Este año hemos celebrado Halloween en el cole. Halloween es una celebración tradicional de los países de habla inglesa. El 31 de Octubre es el día que los chicos esperan para disfrazarse e ir a las puertas de los vecinos, siguiendo la tradición de truco o trato y recoger chuches y regalos. Nuestras actividades fueron las siguientes. En Educación Infantil escuchamos cuentos espeluznantes, cantamos canciones, creamos espantosas caretas… En Educación Primaria aprendimos vocabulario e información sobre las costumbres de Halloween. Decoramos la clase con nuestras calabazas e hicimos caretas con los personajes con los que después cantamos canciones. Pero la fiesta de Halloween parecería incompleta sin jugar sus juegos tradicionales. Así, jugamos a coger la manzana, a buscar los huesos de un esqueleto y a envolver la momía, entre otros. La profe espera que lo pasaseis de miedo.
